ShelterBox 2011
Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 08:20AM 2011 has been a busy year for ShelterBox, the charity having operated all over the world, delivering its signature green box packed with survival essentials to places hit by disaster. Shelterboxes have helped at disasters including, but not limited to, earthquake stricken Japan, flooding all over South America, the East African Drought and armed conflict in Libya.
Earlier in the year ShelterBox received a series of international awards, with founder Tom Henderson and 42 ShelterBox volunteers receiving the Presidents Volunteer Service Award from Barack Obama and was named the Just Giving Charity of the Year. ShelterBox was also shortlisted for the award of Peoples Choice Charity of the Year.
More recently, in August, Tom Henderson attended and spoke at a global disaster conference in Korea where he was the only representative from a non-governmental organisation.
